So in the unending quest to keep abreast (hee hee, I said "breast") of new technology, I decided it was high time I ripped my CDs to MP3s. This quest sent me on a perilous journey around download.com and other nether regions of the Internet, through the Valley of the Shadow of Spyware, etc., etc., until I finally discovered MediaMonkey.
How wonderful is this?! It rips, it burns, it probably slices, dices and juliennes. It gives you just about unlimited flexibility to tag, label, sort, edit, and otherwise do crazy funky things with your music files. It supports iPod synchronization. It looks up all possible permutations of track names and lets you decide which to load.
But the best thing about it has to be the visualizations by MilkDrop. I launched it on a lark and have been sitting here for an hour watching the unbelievable fractal-fied beat-sensitive pixel gyrations looping and skittering and stuttering across my screen. Closest I've been to psychoactive drugs since relocating to the Great Wasteland of Forsaken-ness.
Can't... look... away...
Great Wasteland of Forsakenness? Sounds like somebody needs to turn that frown upside-down.

Don'tcha luv, luv, LUV watching those things?!?! The Mac operating system has a great one built in for iTunes... it's as good as a "trip," I'm guessing, without having to worry about re-living it when I'm 60! ROFLOL!

Through the Valley of...Bwahaahaha! You crack me up.
My lovely DH has burned most of our CDs onto the computer and made MP3 albums for me for my listening pleasure in the car (on the MP3 player he bought me for Christmas) LOVE IT!
Welcome to the 21st Century, girl!
(PS, I've never seen the visuals you are experiencing, though.)
